We accept all electronics except old tube-type TVs and bulky CRT computer monitors. Our paper shredding is intended to help protect you against Identity Theft. Please refrain from bringing general paper items, such as magazines and newspapers. Ordinary paper such as this can be placed in blue recycling bags and set out for pickup on your neighborhood’s regular Recycling Day. Only bring paper that you want destroyed to protect yourself. Please remove the paper from 3-ring binders before arriving at the site. Paper clips and staples are okay.
We must limit the amount of paper you can bring for shredding to no more than five (5) boxes. If you have more than five boxes, we will request a minimum donation of $ 5 per box above this limit. For our event, a box is a standard “bankers” box with dimensions about 10” x 12” x 18”.
Many attendees arrive an hour before the event opens and must wait in line. You can avoid the early rush by coming after 11:30 AM.
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th (National Peace Officers Memorial Day) falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
The Richardson Police Department organizes this annual event to honor those Texas law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the performance of their duties during the previous year.

This stirring ceremony includes remarks by the Richardson City Mayor and the Richardson Police Chief. Names of the Texas officers who lost their lives will be read and a flower placed on a wreath in their honor. The RPD Honor Guard will perform “Taps” and make a 21-gun salute. A lone bagpiper will close the service.
The ceremony will be held in front of the Richardson Police Department, near the new RPD Memorial.
Meetings are held in the Multipurpose Room in the main building. The doors open at 6:15 pm and the meeting begins at 6:30 pm. After a short business meeting, a program related to law enforcement or first responders is presented. The meetings are usually over around 8:00 pm.
The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association was officially incorporated on June 2, 1993. This year marks our 26th year of supporting the Richardson Police Department.
