Membership Meeting
Program: TBA
Each year, the second full week of April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators.
In the early 1990’s, Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) introduced what became H.J. Res. 284 to create “National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week.” According to Congressional procedure, it was introduced twice more in 1993 and 1994, and then became permanent, without the need for yearly introduction. The Congressional resolution also stated there were more than “500,000 telecommunications specialists,”
When you run into a dispatcher, be sure and tell them “thank you”.
We will not be having a regular Membership Meeting tonight, instead, we will be attending the Richardson Real Heroes annual recognition ceremony honoring those selected to receive this honor.
Each year, Real Heroes accepts nominations for those who have contributed their time and effort by volunteering in Richardson. One of our own, Marty Korn, was selected as one of four honorees.
Please join your other friends and CPA Alumnis in attending this program. There is no cost to attend.
The annual spring fundraiser is held in conjunction with the City of Richardson’s Trash Bash. Together, the events have out grown the Civic Center facility. FUMCR graciously is lending use of their South parking lot for the RCPAAA part of this event.
We will accept any electronic device, large or small, with the exception of computer monitors or televisions.
Documents will be shred onsite. If you are a business and wish to shred old documents, we ask that you donate $5 per box (size of a banker’s box). Still a very good deal.
There is no charge for this event but donations are greatly appreciated.
Monies raised from this event help the RCPAAA with programs to support the RPD including Spring and Fall Appreciation Meals, treats for those who must work on Thanksgiving and Christmas, scholarships to children of RPD employees and the retired K9 medical assistance fund.
