Although Bill was raised in Oklahoma, he has been a Richardson resident since 1984, and considers himself a naturalized Texan. He attended the US Air Force Academy for one year and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA. BOOMER SOONER. Bill is a self-employed Technology Consultant and retired from Southwest Airlines in 2010 after being a flight attendant for 31 years. Bill and his wife Pamela (CPA Class 36) have one daughter and 3 dogs to keep them occupied. He has served on the board of directors for several different arts groups around the DFW area including over 10 years on the Richardson Symphony Board. Bill is very active with the RPD VIPS program and also loves target shooting, practicing Taekwondo (3rd degree Black Belt) and help Dalmatian Rescue of North Texas. He is on the City of Richardson’s Alarm Review Committee and is a block captain for his HOA.
Richard is semi-retired but works part time as Senior Technician for Garland Technology in Richardson. He and his wife, Nancy, are Richardson residents. He received an AS degree in Industrial Electronics from Electronics Institute in Independence, MO. In addition to his duties as VP of the RCPAAA, Rick is Gear Director of the Richardson Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association, Duck Creek Crime Watch Patrol and a Crime Watch Coordinator. He is also a Commissioner on the City of Richardson’s Environmental Board.
This native Texan has been involved in the IT industry for many years in almost every part of the business from computer operator and programmer to Global Account Manager with IBM for over 25 years. She retired from QAD, Inc. in 2009. Now you can find her working to make her College Park area safer and more welcoming – she is the HOA Welcome Person and Crime Watch Coordinator. Most recently she began to work in the RPD’s VIPS program.
Susan graduated with CPA Class 32 and has been an active member of the Alumni, acting as Class Liaison, moving into Membership Director, and settling into the Treasurer position. She also assists at the CPA classes each year. Susan works at Childress Engineering Services in Richardson and lives in Plano, Texas with her husband, Ray, and four-legged son, Duncan. She has three wonderful children: Mary and husband, Michael; Helen, and Thomas, and two gorgeous granddaughters, Hailey and Grace, and, of course, her two grand dogs, Tucker and Duke. Susan is a HUGE University of Oklahoma football fan (son graduated from there), thus missing each Shredding/Electronics event in October because of the OU/Texas game. But she is also a fan of Texas Tech football (both daughters graduated from there), and also because the owner of Childress Engineering graduated from there. So BOOMER SOONER and GUNS UP! In between work, RCPAAA events, and college football, Susan loves to cross-stitch.
Warren Caldwell – Director of External Relations – CPA Class 36
Warren was born and raised in Richardson. A former paperboy for the Richardson Daily News, he currently lives in Canyon Creek with his wife, Laura, and soon to be 17-year-old son, Wyatt, who is a 11th grader at JJ Pearce High School. Warren graduated from Richardson High School and went on to Stephen F. Austin University where he received a Business Degree with emphasis in Finance.
He serves as President of Homes North Texas, a real estate brokerage specializing in residential sales. When not involved with helping neighbors with their real estate needs, Warren enjoys spending time with his son, exercise, volunteering, tennis and bowling. He is a graduate of Inside RISD and will be attending the next Richardson Citizens Fire Academy. He serves on the Canyon Creek HOA Board as Crime Prevention Director, is the semi-retired Quartermaster of Troop 1001, is a member of the Men’s Tennis Association Board of Governors at Canyon Creek Country Club and serves many roles at Pearce High School including Tennis Dad. He is delighted to be a Board member of the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association because RPD brings so much to our City and it is an opportunity to assist and give back.
Melodie Calvert – Director of Internal Relations – CPA Class 36
Melodie was born in New York, NY and was raised in Detroit, Michigan. She has lived in Garland for the last 15 years mostly with her brother. She attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan and received a BS in Public Administration, with a minor in Criminal Justice. Her current employer is Texas Instruments where she works as a Security Coordinator. Her primary responsibilities are protecting the assets of the company by responding to medical calls, odors, spills, thefts, and all suspicious activity. Hobbies and interests include family, riding my bike, reading, running, volunteering at church, and CERT/ Red Cross where she currently has certifications in both areas.
Patti Fitch – Class Representative – CPA Class 37
Patti was born in upstate New York and at the age of 8, her family moved to Richardson. She has been in the Reservation neighborhood since that age, attending Dover Elementary, Richardson West Junior High, and Richardson High. She went to college at Texas A&M University, graduated with a degree in Marketing, and has worked for IBM for 33 years. Patti has served as the block captains for both the National Night Out/Crime Watch and Reservation HOA. She is very active in church.
Carole Beatty Harris was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, PA, with summers spent in Wildwood, NJ. She has resided in Harrisburg, the San Francisco Bay Area (San Mateo and San Jose) and the Washington, DC area (Reston, VA), before moving to Richardson in 1981 with her husband and daughter. She is retired from the medical practice of Dr. Richard Townsend, where she was the Office Manager. She is the proud Nana of two grandchildren who are descendants (via their Dad’s lineage) of a defender of the Alamo.
You will never catch Carole without a book and a crochet or knitting project in progress. She also serves on the Richardson Real Heroes committee and contributes to Love Stitches at Woodcreek Church. Carole is also active in the RPD’s VIPS program working with Emergency Management and delivering wonderful sweets to the officers and staff of the RPD every Thursday.
Barry was a member of CPA class 36 and has been a Richardson resident since 1982. He is the Past President of the Richardson Rotary club and a member and Elder Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church. Prior to his recent retirement, he was a commercial banker for 25 years before becoming a small business owner for the last 20 years. He has been married to his lovely wife Pam for the last 46 years and they have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. In his spare time, Barry enjoys golf, reading and volunteer work (including being in the VIPS program at the RPD).
Traute moved to Richardson, TX, in 1984 from her native Germany after successfully completing her BBA. She and her husband of 30 years, their two children and two dogs love living in Richardson because it is so close to the major local attractions and the easy access to everything in and around Dallas.
Traute speaks German and English, as well as a bit of French, and has travelled extensively internationally for both business and pleasure. She loves to spend time at her other home in Spain. She also enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering her time with a number of civic groups, including the Texas German Day Council, the Police and the Fire Academy Alumni organizations and her Homeowner Association.
As a Texas Broker, Traute holds many industry designations and loves to help her clients with their real estate transactions. She is currently the President of Realtors Supporting Richardson Schools and actively involved in the MetroTex Public Education and Government Affairs Committees. She is also a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy.
Lela’s Texas roots go way back – 8 generations to be specific. A long time Richardson resident, Lela graduated from JJ Pearce and North Texas State University. She has worked over 20 years in the healthcare industry, including 10 years as a research support specialist. She and her husband, HB, are members of First Baptist Church of Richardson. Lela enjoys volunteering for the RPD as a Volunteer in Police Service (VIPS). Lela is also a grad of the Richardson Citizens Fire Academy (2007) and serves on their Alumni Board of Directors. HB and Lela have a grown daughter and a miniature schnauzer.
Bill Zeigler began his association with Richardson in 1969 as an employee of Collins Radio, which is now Rockwell Collins. In 1987, he became a resident of Richardson, residing on Waterview Drive. He retired early from Rockwell Collins in 2005 after 38 years of service as an engineer, marketer, and program manager. He attended CPA Class 33 and later became President of the RCPAAA in 2014. He will continue serving the CPAAA is Past President in 2015. In addition to the RCPAAA role, he also serves as a VIPS Field Operations Volunteer. He is also heavily involved in the Richardson East Rotary Club, President of his HOA board, President of the Rockwell Collins Retirees Association, and chairs the Richardson Real Heroes committee. He has a Bachelors and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration all from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
Elana who graduated with CPA Class 36, was born and raised in West Hartford, CT. She moved to Texas in 2001 and lives in Richardson with her husband, Scott, and two beautiful daughters, ages 5 and 7. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) with a degree in Biotechnology and for the last 14 years has worked for Green Mountain Energy as a Client Service Delivery Manager. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and participating in group exercise classes.
Keith Kockler began his career with the Richardson Police Department in November 1988 as a Patrol Officer. He has served on all patrol shifts, and as an accident investigator. He has a total of over 11 years’ experience as an investigator in Narcotics and Crimes Against Persons. He was promoted to Sergeant in January 2003 and to Lieutenant in June 2005. He served on the Hostage Negotiations Team as an Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In 2013, he was promoted to Captain and has served as the Investigative Operations Captain and the Patrol Operations Captain. Recently, Captain Kockler was transferred to Special Operations.
Keith was born in Kentucky. He graduated from Lewisville Senior High School in Lewisville, Texas. He is also an Aggie, having graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He received an Executive Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and Leadership at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014. He is also a graduate of Leadership Richardson. Captain Kockler recently became a proud graduate of “Inside Richardson”.
